‘Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus

August 2, 2016

This morning, I read a wonderful post that asks a great question in the title: Who You Gonna Trust?

The author expressed a good amount of wisdom and knowledge regarding the current (often vicious!) verbal battles going on during this election season.  I found myself relating to much of what was written, and I was motivated to write two comments.

First, I would encourage readers to go over and read the post.

This election seems to be more vicious, demeaning, combative, divisive, attack-prone, immoral, verbally abusive, and filled with lies than any other in recent memory.  Perhaps I have just forgotten about the pain of past elections?  Or, perhaps I didn’t pay as much attention back then and didn’t see that former election seasons were just as nasty?

I do recall many Christian bloggers attempting to warn voters about HiLIARy and then ObaMARXIST – the Muslim sympathizer – back in 2008 and 2012.  Unfortunately the warnings fell on too many blind eyes and deaf ears.

Today, it appears that America has awoken from the stupor of the past.  With their eyes opened, perhaps many and now seek out alternative media online because they have come to distrust what the media of mass deception puts out there.

Many bloggers are reacting to the Khizr Khan vs. Trump controversy that I wrote about and linked to yesterday. I must admit, that entire controversy (and what the media of mass deception WAS NOT revealing about it) really bothered me. I awoke at midnight last night and read more posts about it at both the Lame Cherry blog and Pam Gellar’s website here and here.

By tomorrow, perhaps the Khan controversy will be old news. Why? Because the Dems and their cohorts in the media of mass deception want to keep the narrative in check and do not want the truth about this Muslim man to come out!

Anyway, back to the original topic.

The post Who You Gonna Trust? brings me back to the wisdom, knowledge, SANITY, AND TRUTH of GOD’S WORD! Both the written Word of the Scriptures, and the Living Word – Jesus Christ, does that; even when Christians like me find themselves in the midst of a great amount of turmoil swirling around us.  After all, our Lord and Savior told us that we are “not of this world” while we exist on this fallen terrestrial ball called “earth.”

I am reminded of the Bible verse that informs us:

Rom 8:22

For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now.

Wow!!! This is a great post because it reveals the signs of the times that our nation is currently going through!

I have a best friend who is adamantly pro-Trump. I have another friend who is profoundly anti-Trump (also anti-Hillary) so she is compelled to “write someone in” on her ballot come November.

My dear daughter finally had a long conversation about politics with me. This is often avoided because we agree on some issues, but disagree on others. She and her husband (registered Independents) may stay home election day.

I just can’t bring myself to “pull the lever” for Trump in November. However, since the land of many “fruits and nuts” CA is a huge blue state… 75% Democrat, my little ole’ vote most likely wouldn’t count anyway.

My husband is leaning towards voting for Trump to counter the awfulness of HiLIARy…as we accurately call her in our home.

This is why I try not to talk directly about the election anymore. There is no “savior” to be had in any presidential election! There is ONLY ONE Savior – and His name is Jesus Christ our Lord. In Him alone, I place my everlasting trust!

You wrote:

In what can you possibly trust? In God we trust. We place our eyes on Jesus Christ, we get into His word, we pray, and we lean into the concept of grace and mercy, into the knowledge and recognition that love wins, that love already conquered all. Love is now seated at the right hand of the Father.

Beautifully and wonderfully said!

P.S. I forgot to mention that a long-time Christian blogging friend of mine (who gave me a little “award” in the past for my Christian-based blogging efforts) is VERY pro-Trump, and he has, in fact, deleted my Talk Wisdom blog from his blog roll! This is a very trivial matter, of course, but it is an example of how satan’s (refuse to capitalize the devil’s name!) ploys to divide us often works and unfortunately, can temporarily succeed in this fallen world.

We are forewarned to beware the devil’s devices!

2Co 2:10

Now whom you forgive anything, I also forgive. For if indeed I have forgiven anything, I have forgiven that one[fn] for your sakes in the presence of Christ,

2Co 2:11

lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.

But we can all be encouraged with the following verses!

Rom 16:17

Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them.

Rom 16:18

For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus[fn] Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple.

Rom 16:19

For your obedience has become known to all. Therefore I am glad on your behalf; but I want you to be wise in what is good, and simple concerning evil.

Rom 16:20

And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

God’s Word ALWAYS come through with the answers we need for such a time as this!

For me, reading these eternal words of hope, comfort, and joy is like a sweet, cool breeze from God upon my face.  I may not necessarily see the “breeze” itself, but I feel the “breeze” upon myself.  I also see its wonderful affects as it goes by.   And, because Scripture reassures me of this each and every day, I know that Jesus is with me!

Romans 8:16-39

Rom 8:16

The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,

Rom 8:17

and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.

Rom 8:18

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

Rom 8:19

For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God.

Rom 8:20

For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope;

Rom 8:21

because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

Rom 8:22

For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now.

Rom 8:23

Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body.

Rom 8:24

For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees?

Rom 8:25

But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance.

Rom 8:26

Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us[fn] with groanings which cannot be uttered.

Rom 8:27

Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

Rom 8:28

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

Rom 8:29

For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.

Rom 8:30

Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.

Rom 8:31

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

Rom 8:32

He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?

Rom 8:33

Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.

Rom 8:34

Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.

Rom 8:35

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

Rom 8:36

As it is written:

“For Your sake we are killed all day long;
We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”[fn]

Rom 8:37

Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

Rom 8:38

For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come,

Rom 8:39

nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Talk Wisdom's goal is to defend the tenets and values of Biblical Christian faith. We defend our Constitutional Republic and Charters of Freedom, especially when speaking out against destructive social and political issues. As followers of our Savior and Lord, we should boldly stand up for Jesus Christ in our present circumstances. He is our Savior, Lord, and King, and His love needs to be shed abroad in our hearts and in our world - now.
