Love Is Sacrifice

HT for graphic:  New Life

With all of the vitriol, commentary, disagreements, support, sadness, gladness, insults being hurled, and thankfulness being given by people on TV regarding the blockbuster hit movie, “American Sniper,” I decided to  weigh in on the topic.

First, you might like to view a brief video of The O’Reilly Factor which covered some of the vitriol going on.

I thought about the views regarding Chris Kyle, (the brave American Navy SEAL in whom the book and movie was created to tell his story) that have been spewed by some who despised him for what he did.  I thought about how others had the completely opposite feelings of gratefulness and honor towards him.

Why are such polar opposite views of him being debated by pundits on TV?

Why all the vitriol against him?

Why all the support and honor by others who viewed Kyle as an honorable defender of our nation against those who would not hesitate to come to America in order to kill you and I, as well as any person who does not accept radical Islamic terrorists and their horrid ideology?

Chris Kyle killed enemy combatants during the war in order to protect his fellow troop members fighting the battle over there so that we wouldn’t have to fight it here. Watch out folks, because as we now know and have seen, the battles have begun here as well.

Such an attitude against our military members fighting for our freedom against Nazism, Japanese Totalitarianism, and Communism World War II were practically non-existent…except for maybe a few crazies who agreed with the “isms” of that era. Today, we are fighting another world-wide battle against another “ism” – radical Islamic terrorism. Yet, this current BADministration refuses to label the enemy as such.

Well, my purpose here is not to get into a huge political discussion. I want to focus on the TRUTH and one of the reasons why there is such a divide in our nation regarding the battle against radical Islamic terrorism.

Let me back up a bit.

It was recently revealed that the film, “The Passion of the Christ” topped all R-rated films at the box office. Why is that? Was it only because Christians decided to go and see the movie in the theaters? Maybe.

Today, we have “American Sniper” on target to surpass “The Passion of the Christ” film’s record at the box office.

I’m convinced that it has a lot to do with the “love is sacrifice” Christian ideology that is eternally inherent in the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ on the cross at Calvary.

HT for graphic:

For what purpose you may ask?  Answer:  for the remission of sins; and the fact that our Savior’s Love was so great that mankind, through simple belief in Him, can confess their sins, ask Jesus into their hearts to be their Lord and Savior, and be reconciled back unto the Father to spend eternity with Him.

In Chris Kyle’s case, the sacrifices that he made for our people and nation (as well as the sacrifices made by him for his family and by his family for him to accomplish what he did) cannot be missed – and deserve to be honored for what he did while completing his individual calling and mission in this life while on this earth.

The following music video by King and Country is called, “The Proof of Your Love.” The video may be seen as quite unconventional for a Christian-based band, but I think that the combination of what you are seeing and hearing in the lyrics reveals the fact that LOVE IS SACRIFICE. As members of the human race here on earth, we can demonstrate this in various ways. Just ask any parent who would do anything within God’s Will for their children.

However, there is no greater love than what Jesus Christ accomplished on the cross for our benefit.

Watch on Youtube: “The Proof Of Your Love” by King and Country

From azlyrics:

“The Proof Of Your Love”

If I sing but don’t have love
I waste my breath with every song
I bring an empty voice, a hollow noise
If I speak with a silver tongue
Convince a crowd but don’t have love
I leave a bitter taste with every word I say
So let my life be the proof,
The proof of Your love
Let my love look like You and what You’re made of
How You lived, how You died
Love is sacrifice
So let my life be the proof,
The proof of Your love
If I give
To a needy soul but don’t have love then who is poor?
It seems all the poverty is found in me
So let my life be the proof,
The proof of Your love
Let my love look like You and what You’re made of
How You lived, how You died
Love is sacrifice
Oh, let my life be the proof,
The proof of Your love
When it’s all said and done
When we sing our final song
Only love remains
Only love remains
Let my life be the proof,
The proof of Your love
Let my love look like You and what You’re made of
How You lived, how You died
Love is sacrifice
So let my life be the proof,
The proof of Your love

“To sacrifice oneself for another is the greatest honor” If you love someone enough would you not be willing to die for them? Why is it so hard to believe that Jesus loves you so much that he sacrificed himself for you? Do you not want to believe that there is a god who cares about his people enough to sacrifice himself for them?

It is still heavily important to remember our initial standing before God prior to Christ’s sacrifice. Especially if you’re a gentiles (as I am and most of American Christians are). A true appreciation for Christ’s sacrifice comes from remembering that without his love our only deserving place is Hell. And that he continues to love us and his grace continues to abound though we continue to disobey him AFTER he has died for us. I know I completely do not deserve Christ’s sacrifice whatsoever…which makes the fact that he saved me all the more amazing and awesome 🙂
