This morning while watching Fox and Friends on the Fox News Channel, I saw the picture of a U.S. Navy veteran cradling a baby in an American flag. My first thought was – what an absolutely beautiful photo! But then, a whole lot of controversy was being discussed when people on Face Book objected to the photo.
I was so glad that Elizabeth Hasselbeck interviewed the photographer, Vanessa Hicks, who is also a Navy veteran.

Good for Vanessa Hicks for not taking down the photo and for defending her actions on this issue! Her explanation in that video interview says it all!!!
I wonder…if the baby had instead been an aborted fetus, would the progressive leftist pro-death-to-babies-in-the-womb maniacs have stayed silent about the photo? Would they have accepted it as some sort of “artsy” and “free speech” issue? Or even worse, would they have cheered about it?

I wonder: if it had been a grown man using the flag as a hammock, would the regressive right have cheered it? There may be something about this in the US Code covering use and display of the flag, but I’m sure a Navy photographer would know about that (in fact, they’re expected to).
What if the baby had been other than white? Would they have accepted it as some sort of “artsy” and “free speech” issue, or would it have been denounced as some pandering to “diversity”?
I saw it on Facebook too, but I thought you’d dropped that site! You haven’t spoken well of it lately.
I like the photo myself, but I’ll bet NetanYahoo! is looking at it and wishing he’d thought of it first—with the baby wrapped in an Israeli flag, of course. So much better than a picture of a cartoon bomb.

Israel already has millions of partisans over here. But it really wasn’t necessary for Obama send anyone over there. Israelis can read papers and the internet as well as anyone, and right about now the people themselves are making up their own minds. We’ll see what happens.

That’s just as wrong as wrapping a baby in it, and for exactly the same reason. But one makes people go “dawww…” while the other sparks outrage.

Oh, okay. So you know how to find cases where people are disrespecting the flag in some other way. “It’s all right to desecrate the flag if the intention was to glorify it” is what you’re saying, is that right?
Of the US flags I saw in those photos, the only legal ones were in their proper place: flying from flagpoles. All the others (by which I suppose you mean the ones upside-down on the ground with writing on them) weren’t legal flags anymore. At least one of them wasn’t a 50-star flag, and so is obsolete. Of course there’s only one thing to do with a worn-out or obsolete flag: burn it. Which happens to be legal, despite a frenzy of anti-flag burning amendments back in the late ’80s.
What’s got you so upset about those pictures? One, as you pointed out, equated Obama with Hitler, so I’d have thought you’d be ecstatic about that! It’s exactly the sort of thing you’ve been claiming for most of the past ten years.
Again: if it’s wrong to use the US flag as a doormat, it’s equally wrong to use it as a baby hammock. Your trying to negate one offense with another merely proves my point.
