READ the GQ Article About Phil Robertson!

If readers would just take the time to read the GQ Article: What The Duck?” you might discover some things about both Phil and the writer that would surprise you!

I won’t add too much commentary at the moment, but I will state a few things that stood out for me, as a born-again Christian woman. I want visitors to go read the article and think for themselves. There are also over 4,000 comments to read! I haven’t read any of them yet. But several things within the article certainly stood out to me and have been apparently lost in the minds of the news network pundits as well as all the hate mongers out there in liberal land.

Another anti-Phil challenge is being spewed by the networks.  Since the “homosexual offenders” remarks have created such a backlash against the A&E network executives who are now punishing Phil Robertson by suspending his appearances on the show, perhaps a new scandal needs to be drudge up from the article:  namely, the so-called “racist” comment that Phil made about blacks.  But it might be too difficult to keep that one going since Phil called himself “white trash” in that particular quote.  Oh no!  He’s anti-white too!!!  [sarcasm now off]

The writer, who didn’t have much in common with Phil Robertson ended up at least respecting Phil (if not perhaps even envying him!) and says so within the article.

He also made this quip:

“If you can’t reconcile some of the things Phil says with his otherwise friendly demeanor—perhaps because you are gay, or a duck—I don’t blame you. And I don’t blame Duck Dynasty for keeping the show safely apolitical, ensuring smooth digestion for a mass audience.”

It’s kind of funny that this secular writer at GQ would equate the inability to reconcile some of what Phil says, “perhaps because you are gay, or a duck.”

In one case, the duck, gets killed. In the other case, the gay just might end up being saved.

We can tell that the concept of being saved is foreign to the writer.  Phil asks:

“So you and your woman: Are y’all Bible people?”

GQ writer:  Not really, I’m sorry to say.

“If you simply put your faith in Jesus coming down in flesh, through a human being, God becoming flesh living on the earth, dying on the cross for the sins of the world, being buried, and being raised from the dead—yours and mine and everybody else’s problems will be solved. And the next time we see you, we will say: ‘You are now a brother. Our brother.’ So then we look at you totally different then. See what I’m saying?”

GQ writer:  I think so?

When someone answers a direct question like that with a question mark on the end of “I think so?”; you can be assured that he doesn’t get it.

Well, that’s the point of it all now isn’t it? Those who “don’t get it” about the need for every human being on earth to confess their sins and repent of them, in order to be saved through the blood shed by Jesus Christ on the cross, do not know from whence each and every Christian has been. Phil has openly admitted his sin.  For we are all sinners in need of the Savior.

During his three-year ministry on earth, Jesus once asked a man, “why do you call me good?” when He was told that He is a good teacher. Then Jesus added, “no one but God is good.”  Jesus was applying the art of apologetics in this encounter.  He was testing the man to see whether or not he really knew who Jesus is!  Being just “a good teacher” doesn’t cut it.  Being the Savior, Son of God, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world, demonstrates exactly who Christ is and why He came to earth in the flesh to pay the price, once and for all,  for man’s sins.

If you think that you are good enough to go to heaven without repentance in the name of Jesus, take “The Good Test” and see how you do.

Merry Christmas!

I love how he shared the Gospel in the interview. So sad that some “Christian” leaders are criticizing Phil and missing the change to share the Gospel themselves.

So what did Mr. Robertson actually say? All I know is that he said something that angered a lot of people but no one is telling us what he actually said. I want to see Phil quoted, however, I will not waste money on that stupid magazine.

Agreed Neil. Wasn’t it sad to note that the author missed it?

There are MANY (on both sides of the issue) missing the true point of it all. Sharing the Gospel is not fashionable anymore. And there are hate mongers who attempt to squelch free speech in order to make it a hostile environment whenever someone attempts to share Jesus with the public.

Let me guess. The “Christian” leaders you are referring to are liberals like the Sojourner cult?.

People conveniently forget that Jesus often used strong words against perpetrators. [See the “millstone” quotes like Mark 9:42, Matthew 18:16, and Luke 17:2 regarding what those who hurt children deserve.]

People don’t want to admit that they are sinners in need of the Savior. That’s why man has been hiding and running away from God ever since the Garden of Eden.
