Correction and Reproof of Liberal False Teachers

Correction and Reproof of Liberal False Teachers

Today, I feel led to share a link to my friend Neil’s blog – Eternity Matters.  He has written an excellent post that biblically “outs” the  false teachers from the realm of liberal Christianity!  You will learn a lot and be truly blessed by the truth he shares! As usual, when Christians share the truth of the Bible with theologically liberal Christians, it often leads to a battle.  There is one commenter over there who was a bit up-in-arms because he thought that Neil was “judging” liberal Christians. 4Simpsons Blog – Eternity Matters

A simple way to out theologically Liberal Christians for the tares and  wolves that they are                       –                     One of the easiest ways I’ve found to “out” false teachers is to ask if  they believe that Jesus is the only way to salvation.  They very rarely do.  They’ll…

Excerpt:

One of the easiest ways I’ve found to “out” false teachers is to ask if they believe that Jesus is the only way to salvation.  They very rarely do.  They’ll defend their false view with some tidbit they’ve heard then try to change the subject.  Some, like false teacher Chuck “Jesus is not the only way” Currie, come up with entire sermons designed to rationalize away plain texts like John 14:6 (Jesus answered, ”I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.).

Theologically Progressive/Liberals who claim the name of Christ mock the cross and the blood of the martyrs.  They refer to a few Bible verses, though almost always out of context, but if you keep them talking long enough they deny nearly all the
essentials of the faith.

What they don’t know is that there are more than 100 passages supporting the truth that Jesus is indeed the only way to salvation.  When you point that out they work overtime to ignore you or change the subject.  Don’t let them do that.  And keep in mind that many of them have Masters or Doctorates in theology yet they have read the Bible so little that they don’t even know that truth!    Just ask them this: Do you believe that Jesus is the only way to salvation, or do you rationalize away the 100+ passages affirming that truth? Follow-up question: If you deny those passages, then you are denying that the Holy Spirit inspired the original writings, so what is your evidence that the original writings were wrong but that the Holy Spirit is now accurately revealing truths to you?

Read it all HERE! Neil asks the 2 pertinent questions at the end of that excerpt:

Just ask them this: Do you believe that Jesus is the only way to salvation, or do you rationalize away the 100+ passages affirming that truth? Follow-up question: If you deny those passages, then you are denying that the Holy Spirit inspired the original writings, so what is your evidence that the original writings were wrong but that the Holy Spirit is now accurately revealing truths to you?

Read the entire post and comments.  Neil answers each query and objection by utilizing biblical hermeneutics masterfully!

My comment there:

Unfortunately, liberal Christians often make the same mistakes as non-believers.  They equate the necessary correction and reproof by fellow Christians as “judging” others.  But the fact is that man can be guilty of  “judging” God’s Word and rejecting the truth therein; precisely because it goes against their own personal beliefs regarding what constitutes sin.  Instead of agreeing with what God has revealed in Scripture, they want to hold onto their own ideologies or secular beliefs.  When they do that (by not utilizing exegesis, Scripture interprets Scripture – meaning proper hermeneutics),  then they incorrectly interpret Scripture and thus the true meaning can be lost.  Such methods easily lead one astray into heresy and apostasy.

We are only human – and when I get something biblically wrong, I want my fellow Christian brothers and sisters to correct me!  The best way to do so is with Scripture itself!  [I must add that Neil’s post uses Scripture masterfully – and thus all that he wrote can be upheld biblically – which is the most important test in sharing the truth!]

There are many Scriptures that tell us to avoid such misinterpretations.

2 Timothy 2:16-17 is just one example:

2Ti 3:16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,

2Ti 3:17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work .

The importance of the Holy Spirit guiding the born-again believer can’t be emphasized enough!  Jesus told us that he would send the Helper (at Pentecost)  who will testify of him (Jesus), bring all we have learned back to mind and help us to properly learn, study, and apply Scripture!

Jhn 15:26 “But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. Notice that Jesus needed to depart in order for the Holy Spirit to be sent.

Jhn 16:7 “Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. Jesus also tells us the purpose of sending the Holy Spirit to us:

Jhn 14:26 “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. And we also find out that the Holy Spirit will abide in us forever:

Jhn 14:16 “And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— This is why Jesus claims that he will be with us always, even unto the end of the age:

Mat 28:18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth .

Mat 28:19 “Go therefore[fn] and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

Mat 28:20 “teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.[fn] What’s more, the closer we get to the end times we know that there will be a falling away from the truth.  This is why the 2 Timothy 3:16-17 instruction is so crucial when sharing the Gospel of Christ!

See the book of Jude for one example.

steve has left a new comment on your post “Correction and Reproof of Liberal False Teachers”:

Been missing you around the blogosphere Christine.
The problem is, debating with “liberal Christians” is fruitless and really a waste of time. They are too smart for God. They are ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Jesus came to heal the sick and save the lost. Those that don’t think they’re sick have no need of the physician and those who think they aren’t lost have no need of saving … yea, they believe they they’re already saved. They fit right in with Psalm 50 where it says,”… thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as thyself: but I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thine eyes.” Always trying to make God like they are …
But what do I know? I’m just a lowly Texan.

    Dear Steve,

Welcome to my Word press Talk Wisdom blog! If you are reading this, then you have seen my comment at your blog.

You know a LOT! The evidence shows in your terrific comment!

It is true. Those who think they “know better” CHOOSE to remain lost and without salvation. As Romans tells us – we are without excuse!

    Rom 1:20

For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

Psalm 50 is a great verse! Thanks for bringing it up in the discussion!

God’s Word has a way of explaining all that we need to know…doesn’t it? It’s always like a breath of fresh air in this current polluted world of chaos, sin, and lies.

Thanks for the link and your excellent commentary! I love your point about how those who think it is always wrong to judge don’t mind judging God or his word. I’ll be using that point a lot!

“We are only human – and when I get something biblically wrong, I want my fellow Christian brothers and sisters to correct me!”

Yes, me too! I’ve been wrong on many verses, but am glad to be corrected. That’s how we learn. 2 Timothy 2:15 is so foundational — Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.

    Hi Neil!

I’m glad you found me over at my formerly abandoned blog (since 2008!) here at WordPress!

I ran into a bit of a dilemma at Blogger. Google has changed the rules and now wants me to “sign into all of Google” in order to reach my dashboard there! I don’t want to do that! Plus, there was a blurb about Google on Fox News that states some negative things about their practices.

My husband says that I shouldn’t be concerned – he and my children sign into “all of Google” and see nothing wrong with it. Perhaps he is correct that I shouldn’t be worried. But I like to be cautious about such things – especially in the lying Obamafraud era we are in!

I feel bad about abandoning my Blogger Talk Wisdom blog. I’ve had it for over 9 years! But at this point, I’m not sure what to do. Any suggestions?

I decided to bring over my last two posts in order to “get started” again here. And your post is one of my top favorites from this entire year!

I’m still re-learning the navigation of my dashboard. It is different from blogger. But I’m glad that you found me over here Neil! God Bless you my friend!

    Hi again Neil,

Sorry that I’m going off topic here, but I found an article regarding what I heard on Fox News and the NSA snooping into Google. I don’t believe that Google is “upset” about this! They have ALWAYS been in cahoots with the ObaMARXIST BADministration!

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/nsa-infiltrates-links-to-yahoo-google-data-centers-worldwide-snowden-documents-say/2013/10/30/e51d661e-4166-11e3-8b74-d89d714ca4dd_story.html?wpisrc=al_comboPN_p

    What do you think?

I have no doubt that they could be snooping.

I like WordPress better than Blogger. I know WordPress let’s you import from other blogs, so you should be able to do that to pull in your history. Just go to Tools-Import-Blogger and follow the instructions.

Thanks for the import information. I didn’t know I could do that! I have over 9 years of posts at Blogger so it would be great to bring them over here!

I’m tech challenged when it comes to any advanced procedures. I’m trying to follow the tutorial here, but can’t figure out how to create a blog roll! I just need to take more time and read it all.

Question. When you comment at Blogger do you have to “sign into all of Google” to do so? If not, then I may ask for your help to post a comment on my last post there telling visitors to come over here. I can’t even comment at my former blog without signing into “all of Google” to do so!

Also, I found a great search engine that doesn’t record visits and gives more privacy. It’s called Startpage. I’ve been using it for over 2 years.

      https://startpage.com/

In the age of ObamaMARXIST and NSA spying, I try to do all I can to protect my online privacy! I deleted my FaceBook page a year ago because I don’t trust them either!

Thanks again for all your help – I really need it!

It looks like I would need to sign into Blogger in order to export my blog from there to here. As I wrote previously, I don’t want to sign into “all of Blogger” [which changed recently over there], so I will probably just have to put up a link to my old Blogger account in my Word Press side bar.

Linda Kimball left an awesome comment under this same post at my former Talk Wisdom blog. Since I do not sign into bl00ger anymore, I have copied and carried her comment from my email notification over here to my Word Press Talk Wisdom blog:

Linda Kimball has left a new comment on your post “Correction and Reproof of Liberal False Teachers”:

    From Eternity Matters:

“I don’t think it’s possible to bring ‘evidence’, in the sense of rational proof, of the revelations of the Holy Spirit, whether these come through Scripture or through direct experience.”

In other words, if fallen man, in the surplus of his defiance and arrogance cannot affirm in the sense of rational proof the revelations of the Holy Spirit then they either do not exist or are myths invented by primitive hominids.

Lurking beneath this obvious rationalization is the defiant narcissistic assertion that man has not been created by the personal One God in three Persons, that he is not dependent upon Him for his own life, thus he is not created in His spiritual image. Rebels such as Karl Marx and Paul Tillich for example, saw themselves as not dependent upon the living God because they were man-gods, the creators of God, the masters of time, being, and the world who through their own powers would save themselves.

Believing they were superior to Him, they said, “you are not my father:”

“I am I, I come out of myself, and in choice and action I make myself.” (Daniel Bell, quoted by Herbert Schlossberg in “Idols for Destruction,” p. 43)

Ultimately, their pride, defiance and self-centeredness brought about their downfall. Refusing to submit to the God of Revelation, both men were eventually forced to submit to the devil.

In bondage to the devil, Marx is forced to confess that his much bragged about teachings are in fact all mixed up,

“… into a devilish muddle/Thus anyone may think just what he chooses to think.”(Marx & Satan, Richard Wurmbrand, p. 21)

Tillich’s defiance and narcissism led him to Zen Buddhism which opened him to the devil. Tillich’s wife Hannah describes his torment,

“Paulus lived in fear. His nervous body was tense; his desires — many. His fingers would fiddle with a pebble from the beach, a silver coin, or a paper clip. He breathed unevenly and sighed heavily, an ever guilt-ridden Christian in distress. His was the Temptation of Saint Antony in Grunewald’s altar, attacked by demons. His solution was to suffer the demons, take them into his being and describe them in words. He was the martyr of the mind.” (The Paganization of Biblical Studies, Dr. Peter Jones)

Blinded by self-idolatry and defiance, Marx and Tillich refused to submit to their Creator and ended in submission to the devil. Worse, their defiance and self-idolatry led to the conceptual murder of God and the rejection of His work on the cross, which means that by their own choice they willfully shut themselves out of paradise and condemned themselves to eternal outer darkness.

In reality they were two fools (Psalm 14:1; 53:1) whose pride and defiance blinded them to the consequences of their thoughts, choices and actions—that they would ultimately serve as confessions against themselves, as blinking neon signs warning other people: Do not do as these two fools have done:

“….when the fool walketh by the way, his understanding faileth him, and he saith to every one that he is a fool.” Ecclesiastes 10:3
